About the artist

Robert Alexander Euwe

Emotional expression, meticulous precision, and hyper realistic outlook are what define Robert Euwe’s artistic universe. Through Robert’s lens, a brief second of emotion is turned into a long-lasting image, the details are attended to thoroughly and as a result, we get a point of view that is both incredibly realistic yet magically otherworldly in nature.

From tropical ecology to real estate to art, Robert’s competence spans across several industries. Robert started his career as a tropical ecologist, spending years conducting research in the rainforests of South America and the savannahs of Southern Africa. For his scientific research, Robert often stayed in remote places in the jungle for extended periods of time, miles away from the civilized world. Equipped only with a backpack, a machete, GPS and his notes, Robert would sleep in hammocks and eat rice and beans for the duration of several weeks at a time. This experience of extreme social isolation would then become a central part of Robert Euwe’s life. Despite being a social person with a fondness towards human connection, the artist still thrives off the very same solitude he experienced during his time in the tropics. Robert tries to create his own world when working, almost like a bubble of solitude where he finds himself alone with his thoughts and creative ideas, where he can work and contemplate freely.

Robert’s interest in art started blooming from a young age. As a kid, he remembers being captivated by the beautiful things in life. He would easily stare at tiny animals for hours and take in the details of their beauty. He taught himself how to paint and draw like a true autodidact and after 2018, when he picked up the paintbrush and made his first portrait, the artist never stopped creating. Robert’s diverse background in science, business, and now art, come together in harmony to construct a body of work that is fresh, imaginative, and simply insanely technical. When he’s painting, Robert describes entering a “flow state”, a state of hyper-focus where time and space disappear, and a sense of ecstasy takes over. Up close, the paintings disclose layers of painstaking attention to detail and hours of work, from a distance, they seem almost effortless, like a still-life photograph.

“I want to give people who look at my work, the same feeling of awe and reflection that I experience whilst painting” Robert often mentions and after seeing his art, you will understand why.

About the artist

Robert Alexander Euwe

‘Science, Art and Business’

Robert started his career as a tropical ecologist, spending years conducting research in the rainforests of South America and the savannah plains of Southern Africa. Becoming a father of a beautiful boy, Robert set aside his scientific aspirations and started working as a project developer in the real estate sector.

Besides his passion for science and business he has always been fascinated by art. As a teenager he started imitating different techniques he observed from other artists, trying to learn the tricks of the trade. He taught himself how to paint and draw as a true autodidact.

In the summer of 2018 it all changed, when he made his first portrait. A sudden drive took over and fired up his passion to create and develop non-stop. From that point on he has been fascinated with creating big paintings that convey a powerful image.

With his background in science and business, he has a fresh, commercial but very technical approach driving the development of his work. In his paintings, Robert draws your attention to a specific expression or emotion, that he isolates and magnifies. Every detail on the canvas is painted with painstaking precision, in pursuit of a form of hyperrealism.
